Hey again

Well WordPress, long time no talk. It’s been a bit over a year and a half since I last posted and I regret that decision every day. Well, I’ve decided to start blogging, hoping to regain all my past followers and gain some new ones, hoping to make my blog as successful as it once was.

Since it’s been such a long time since we’ve been apart, let me tell you all what you’ve missed in my not so glorious life

  1. I turned 17. Woot.
  2. I’m halfway through my senior year of high school
  3. I haven’t committed to a college yet but my number 1 choice is San Diego State University
  4. My 2 turtles were released into the wild, well the pond behind my mom’s work. So I know they’ll be kept fed and alive.
  5. I finished my golf career in October, will a spectacular performance at Conference and a pitiful one at Regionals
  6. I stopped being friends with my best friend
  7. I was diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and a binge eating disorder
  8. My parents think working out will fix all my problems
  9. I didn’t back out of yearbook senior year even though that, US History, and my mom have sparked most of my problems
  10. I learned I cannot bake (I forgot the flour….twice)
  11. I got my first C in a class
  12. I joined my schools water polo team; my knee was happy about that
  13. I began nannying 2 twin 5-year olds 4 days a week
  14. went to prom solo
  15. didn’t go to senior homecoming because why not?
  16. went to Kentucky with my whole family for a week for some R&R
  17. became my schools Executive Board Treasurer
  18. Met Claes Nobel
  19. Met and spoke with Tina Meier
  20. reconnected with old friends
  21. met new friends
  22. Started my last semester as a high-schooler
  23. Applied to 16 colleges (accepted into 10, waiting on 6)

Well, that’s been my life for the past year and a half

Oh might I add that I’m not about 180 lbs and not nearly as healthy or happy as I want to be so I desperately need good vibes and support as I finish out my senior year as I plan on the next 4 years of my life.

Because you all care…

Because you all care so much about my health class and that it kept me on track while i’ve been away I thought I’d share with you my essay for the class. It’s not really an essay, we were supposed to talk about the foods we eat too much of, what to get rid of, what to add, and I did that. πŸ™‚



In my diet, I definitely eat a lot of carbohydrates, fiber and protein. Just looking at the first three days of the week, I was over in all four of those categories each of these days.

I eat approximately three bananas per day so, with 27 grams of carbohydrates in each one, those add up fast. I also eat a sandwich almost every day for lunch, so bread adds carbohydrates as well.Β  Also, bananas have 3.1 grams of fiber, so eating three per day is almost the total amount of fiber I should have per day.

When I look at my diet for the first day, I noticed that I was over for fats. I looked to see what put me over. Really, I don’t eat a lot of fat based foods, but when you have a large piece of sausage pizza and a chocolate chip cookie or two for dinner, that really puts you over. Am I going to stop eating pizza and cookies? No, but I will and do eat them in moderation.

My carbohydrate intake adds up fast. Most, if not all of my foods have 15 or more grams of carbohydrates. The recommended amount for me is 174g and on day one alone, I had 243g. Once again that chocolate chip cookie and piece of pizza, not to mention three bananas really brings it up.

Looking at all of thee numbers, I realize I am pretty consistent with my consumption of sodium. It is normally way below my daily needs, but consistent. Until you look at March 6th, it looks rather consistent. I never realized that Paninis contained so much sodium. Not only was that panini 860 calories, it also contained 2150 mg of sodium, a whole 49mg of the sodium I had eaten that day, and almost 60% more than I should have eaten that day. Needless to say, I won’t be ordering that anytime soon.Β  Also, that Panini had almost 50g of protein, explaining why I was over on protein for that day as well.

Based on the past week of food logging, I need to eat less of carbohydrates, fiber and proteins. I am pretty on par with sugars. And for the most part, I need to really up my intake of fats, cholesterol, and sodium. I should add foods with more cholesterol and fats such as seafoods and nuts, and more foods with sodium like cheeses. I will definitely be taking those Paninis out of my diet, and although I should, cookies will be leaving no time soon.

September 16th. :)

So, today was alright. Except for the fact that I went to bed with a 101 degree fever(forgot to mention this in the last post). That wasn’t fun. So, I was then freezing, so I put on some thicker pajama pants, turned my fan off, and put on a thick blanket which was amazing until I woke up at 11:11, in a sweat. My fever had broken. Yep, turned my fan on, put on shorts, and flung my blanket on the ground. Then, I fell back to sleep and was woken up at 2:43 for some odd reason. I finally went back to sleep and woke up at 6:30. So, yes, what a lovely night.

Anyway, I trudged down the stairs and ate some breakfast. Then, I did some homework, what fun, and by that time it was about noon, so I ate a sandwich, some applesauce, and a granola bar. My sister had a party to go to so my dad and I had planned on playing 18 holes of golf, to prepare myself for the three matches I have this week, but there was an outing at one course, and a bunch of other places that we couldn’t start until later, so we ended up just going to the driving range. I hit the ball really well and I am stoked for the matches this upcoming week.

After that, My dad and I got smoothies. mine was strawberry banana. I then did some more homework, and blogged. and by that time, it was dinner time. I had some pasta and half a meatball. I also had 3 mini twix bars. That is all.

I had a total of 1609 calories. Yowza…

50th Post! :)

hello my dear readers. before I begin, I would like to thank you all for following me and reading my rambles and rants. 50 posts down, an infinite number to go. πŸ™‚


Anyway, So September 12th. A while back, not really, but still.

Anyway, I woke up and some Honey Bunches of Oats cereal and some milk. Woot, then I went to school. At school, I went to class, had a quiz in math, got 1 wrong, poop, and then went to lunch. I had some yogurt, an apple, a sandwich, and some applesauce. Then, I went to gym. I did 9 miles on the bike in about 25 minutes. That was fun. I see muscles in my thighs!! πŸ™‚ Woot

Then, I had golf. I shot a 58. Not bad, not bad. I also had some trail mix. OHHHH! I only had one bad hole, and by bad I mean really bad. I shot a 9 on a par 3 after losing 3 golf balls in the water. Darn.

When I got home I had a pork chop, some applesauce and rice.

All in all it was a pretty boring day, or it may be the fact that it was like 5 days ago (ish) and yeh, I don’t remember it all that well. Oh, I got my old golfing partner back. Thank you coach!

I had a total 1500 calories.

BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! AKA July 16th, 2012

Hello, everyone. Ii I could put sound onto wordpress,Β  I would, but I can’t, so whatever. Anyway, I woke up today at about 7:30 to the sound of my mom yelling at my dog because she chewed up part of her shoe. Nice one. Anyway, I flopped out of bed, and walked downstairs. And, because umm oh yeah THE NO JUNK FOOD CHALLENGE WAS OFFICIALLY OVER AT MIDNIGHT! I had a piece of banana bread with chocolate chips and a yogurt for breakfast. Oh my god. That was probably the best piece of anything I have ever eaten, I actually don’t think I like banana bread but I ate it and all I could taste was the chocolate. Yeah, anyway then my grandma picked me up and we went to the doctor.

This is where the Best Day Ever officially begins, yes, I was excited about the No Junk Food Challenge being over, but I may start it up again soon, and you’ll find out why later.


You wereΒ  sitting waiting patiently at the doctor’s office waiting for him to give you the news on your knee. The nurse calls out ‘Alicia’ and you hop up out of your seat. She takes you into room 8, and she says step on the scale. You take off your shoes and onto the scale, your mortal enemy. You hold you breath and close yours eyes until you hear the unmistakable noise from the scale and you open your eyes. 166.6 is what you see, Holy Sh*t is all you can think. You haven’t been anywhere near the 60’s since 6th or 7th grade. You want to cry and take a picture of the lowest weight you ever remember seeing. You step off and the nurse continues talking to you about temperature and blood pressure but none of that matters. You weigh 166.6 lbs and you feel unstoppable.

Yep, that was me, this morning at about 10:05 today. I would have a picture but my phone was with my stuff in the car. Damn. Anyway, I lost 8 pounds in 3 weeks. Yes, the last time I was at the doctor, the week after I hurt my knee I weighed in at 174.4 lbs. And if you recall, my highest was 199.2 last summer. I will never ever see that number on the scale again.

Anyway, after she left, I waited patiently for about 15 minutes for the doctor, or what seemed like years because all I could think of was the worst. I plan for the worst, but I hope for the best.

Anyway, when the doctor came in, he asked how I felt, made me walk, do lunges ( I wanted to die because I was so scared that I may hurt my knee again…), and do a squat. Then, he proceeded to tell me howΒ  my injury was just probably from overuse in such a small period of time.

He gave me the OK to run, on grass or treadmill so there is no pounding on my knee… YMCA here I come, bike, swim, and do whatever just as long as I don’t have any pain again. And, so of course, I don’t hurt it from overuse again. Thank God was all I could say. I wanted to hug him, but I don’t really know him that well, so I didn’t.

I went to my grandma’s house, and we had lunch, I had a turkey sandwich and some fruit salad. She congratulated me for getting rid of all the weight (I have no intentions of finding it again) and for sticking to my diet. I do not like the term diet, I prefer life choice. Either way, I was happy. I called my dad and was joyous and wouldn’t stop expressing my ecstatic feelings towards everything that had happened thus far.

Then, at 2:30 I had my physical therapy appointment. She said i was doing really well. YES! I will learn how to tape my knee on Wednesday for sports and such. I’ll teach you all. Hey, more practice for me, right?

Then, I went back to my grandma’s house. She bought Twizzlers and yes, I had some. Not a lot, but I did have some.Β  I was in need, not really, but still. Anyway, I have decided on how I am going to attempt to eliminate junk food from my diet completely, err…umm… almost completely. I will let my self have 5 things that would qualify as junk food this week, then next week 4, and each week dropping one, until it reaches one. I will stick with that for a while and then go from there.

For dinner, I had pasta, garlic bread, green beans and fruit salad. It was all good.

Well, so long best day ever! It’s been rather amazing in so many ways that words can’t describe.
